M4.9 earthquake strikes 5 km NE of Ōmachi, Japan

The earthquake in Japan correlates thematically with the prophetic sign of 'earthquakes in various places' (σεισμοί κατὰ τόπους) mentioned in Matthew 24:7 and Mark 13:8. While this M4.9 earthquake is relatively minor, it represents the type of seismic activity that characterizes the 'birth pangs' (ὠδίνων) of the end times according to Jesus' Olivet Discourse.

There is a tangential connection to the sixth seal judgment which begins with 'a great earthquake' (σεισμός μέγας) in Revelation 6:12.
