Record US drought sparks worries about fires, water supply and food prices

Jesus specifically prophesied famines in various places as birth pangs before the end (Matthew 24:7). Record drought causing food supply concerns and rising food prices represents the exact type of agricultural crisis that produces widespread famine conditions described in the Olivet Discourse.

The Black Horse (ἵππος μέλας) of the third seal brings famine and economic hardship where a day's wages buy minimal food. Record drought directly threatens food supply and drives up food prices, creating the hyperinflation scenario described in Revelation 6:5-6.

The first trumpet judgment includes fire burning a third of earth's vegetation (Revelation 8:7). While this is supernatural judgment, the mention of drought sparking fire concerns creates a tangential connection to the pattern of widespread vegetation destruction through burning.
