Church Fathers

Victorinus of Pettau (on Revelation 11) reads the seventh trumpet as the announcement of Christ's kingdom at the end of the tribulation, paralleling Daniel 2:44's stone that becomes a great mountain. Augustine (City of God XX.9) treats it as the present reign of Christ in the Church extended to its consummation. Andrew of Caesarea follows Victorinus: the seventh trumpet inaugurates the bodily return and judgment.
