Divine Beings Descend and Corrupt Humanity (The Watchers)
Divine beings (bnei ha-Elohim / Watchers) abandoned their heavenly domain, descended to earth, took human wives, and produced hybrid offspring (Nephilim/Gibborim). This transgression of the boundary between heavenly and earthly beings provoked Gods judgment via the Flood. The narrative is foundational in Genesis 6:1-4, expanded in 1 Enoch 6-16, and confirmed as historical by Jude and 2 Peter.
Fulfillment Notes
Pre-Flood event. Confirmed by Jude (who quotes 1 Enoch directly) and 2 Peter (who uses tartaroo, a hapax legomenon invoking Greek Titan mythology). The punishment — imprisonment in chains of darkness until judgment — is described identically in both epistles.
